Ezras week

Ezra’s Week

Hi! I am one of KiliTech’s newest employees, my name is Ezra, and I am an assistant project manager! Working here is great and I love staying busy with all the projects that KiliTech is doing!

This week was hectic at the KiliTech office for there were a lot to accomplish! Mostly we were focused on office doing pending assignment and the current assignments. Nashon was busy with documenting newsletter which we thought to be simple task but we found that it is too hectic and demanding not as simple as we thought. Nashon and Laurel got it publised yesterday though so I hope you have time to read it!

This week w placed the sign at the Chikima Foundation where KiliTech partnered with them to build a school for porters who work on Mt. Kilimanjaro. We offer the porters free education (English reading and writing) and soon we will be expanding the program to girls! The school is located in a remote village, Mbahe, on Mt. Kilimanjaro and we have on average seventeen students per class twice a week.

I was busy with identifying and budgeting for the office requirements the task which is yet to be completed especially in the side of budget for there are other cost which await some other task to be accomplished for the budget to be realistic, He was also busy with school project planning but succumbed challenge from the village, that Panaska has not yet brought the data required for the plan to be completed, he had promised and promised to bring the data but he did not keep his word so the plan is still half way done.

On the other hand, we had FGM Campaign where by Kamili had organized the campaign and it involved 150 youth riding motorbikes famously known as body boda. The meeting was attended by ward executive officer, community development officer and ward councilor, the topics discussed were Child marriage, effects of child marriage and the punishment for such offence. The campaign was successful and had positive response from participants, it is our hope that if things keep moving this way then this campaign will be very successful and though impact may take long to be seen but the outcome will be convincing!!

The construction of kitchen at Soko village is in final stages where they are roofing while also covering the floor, we hope the work is going to get finished as soon as possible, on the other hand the septic tank repair is on fire, now they are covering septic tank so that they can build walls, this is also expected to be finished in a short period of time.

The total amount spent for both projects is $4,000 USD. Thank you for reading this week’s update!Yours truly,Ezra
