Meeting with regional commissioners office for heath clinic in majengo
Meeting with Regional Commissioner’s Office for Heath Clinic in Majengo!
Yesterday, Thadei met with the Regional Commissioner’s office (RGO)! KiliTech was one out of only five foundations (called Non-Government Organization, or NGO, in Tanzania) that the RGO asked to meet with! To put it in perspective, there are over 250 NGOs in the Kilimanjaro region alone. This shows great respect to KiliTech and reflects well on the work we have done as the government officially recognizes us. Thadei represented KiliTech and presented to the commissioner what we do, who we are, and the work we have done in Majengo. The RGO is very pleased with our work and asked us to partner with them in public/private operation building a clinic in Marangu! The village has a population of 11,000 people and there is no nearby clinic or hospital. We have been working with Mawenzi hospital for the past four months strategizing how together we can open a clinic for family planning and basic healthcare. Mawenzi hospital informed the RGO of our desire to collaborate and now the government has offered us land for the clinic and has agreed to help with funding! We have a lot of work ahead of us, and we are just in the beginning stages, but we will work hard to be successful. This is a huge accomplishment for KiliTech and a dream come true for the village!
I will return to Kilimanjaro in just a couple of weeks! I am climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro again with my friends Nomi and Maria, and I will be working hard on the projects, so stay tuned for photos and updates!!
